Four In Hand

This is the easiest, and probably the most popular, knot type for ties. To do this, you should hold the wide end of the tie on your right and then extend it about a foot below the narrow end. Cross the wide end over the narrow one and cross it again underneath it. Pass the wide end across the front of the narrow one and then pass the side end up through the loop. Hold the front of the knot, loosen it with your index finger and then pass the wide end on the loop in front. Tighten the knot carefully and draw it up tight to the collar with the narrow end.

Windsor Knot

This type of knot is best worn with big collars. The Windsor Knot is a bit more complicated than the Four In Hand. You can do this by starting out with the wide end of the tie on your right side and extend it a foot below the narrow end. Cross the wide end over the narrow one and bring it up through the loop. From the loop, put down the wide end and pass it around the narrow end until it reaches the back. Turn the wide end and pass it up through the loop and then slip it down through the knot in front. You can tighten up the knot and bring it up to the collar.

Half Windsor

This knot type is very much similar to the Windsor Knot, only that it does not have the second loop. The knot is thinner and it is best worn by taller people. To do this, you should place the neck tie around your neck with the wide part of the tie on your left side. Take the wide end of the tie and cross it over the narrow end at a right angle. Pull the wide end of the tie around the right side of the collar. Pull it behind the tie slightly tight and back around to the narrow end. Pull the wide end behind the tie and around back to the front side of the narrow end. Pull the wide end of the necktie creating a loop on the front of the unfinished Windsor. Pull the wide end through the loop and then slightly tighten it.
